What happened to all the matching sportswear collections? I mean it's not like I miss it, but everything seems to be trying to be different from what they know. I guess it's like humans to always strive to be like everyone else. It is happening all over the world where we try to act as others. It has been noted that people in Asia are trying to be more American (with surgeries and makeup) and then there is the Americans trying to be more Asian. They are looking to adopt the cute and cartoonish with characters like Hello Kitty.
Not only are we trying to be like others culturally but physically and fashionably. The Andrej Pejic walking runway shows for women. Women wearing the clothes (Boyfriend blazers) it’s all kind of craziness. It is different from what is expect or known but we always enjoy.
If you go to Wmagazine.com you can take a look at a video and also slideshow made by photographer Sølve Sundsbø, creative consultant Jerry Stafford, and stylist Marie Chaix teamed up which shows an interesting view of combined images constantly changing. It is very metaphorphic. The colours, the shapes, and how it changes creates quite the show. You can find women intertwined with men, and statement pieces that create a bigger statement mixed with opposite themes.
Change is definitely something I like to embrace, as does the world of fashion. I am looking forward to seeing what other swapping trends will ensue. Maybe men will start wearing high heels and women only flats? This would be quite the trend.
