2012: Year to Tango in Tangerine

Pantone is a world renowned provider of all things colour. They offer products and services in every field imaginable, including fashion, home, graphic arts, paints, software and lighting. In my eyes, this company runs the world, because colour is seen everywhere. These colours in which Pantone creates can be patented. Large companies use Pantone colours and patent them to ensure no repetition occurs, and to create brand recognition among its consumers. A good example of a company who has patented a Pantone colour is, Tiffany. The color which many of you know as “Tiffany blue” is a private custom colour derived by Pantone. Its official number is 1837, the number from the year Tiffany was founded. As a trademarked color, it is not publicly available and is not printed in the Pantone Matching System swatch books.
Every year, Pantone introduces a colour which they believe will be trending for the upcoming year. For 2012, Pantone’s colour of the year is “Tangerine Tango”. This colour looks exactly how it sounds; a deep orange with an exotic feel. There are many ways you can incorporate this new, hot colour into your everyday doings. When it comes to clothing, because Tangerine Tango is a statement colour, it can be paired with your favorite pair of black shorts, or a neutral tailored pant. Since coloured denim is a popular item this spring, try Tangerine Tango coloured jeans, with a white tank or black t-shirt. Wearing a black dress? Pair it with a Tangerine Tango coloured clutch or pair of pumps. If you’re not interested in wearing bright colours, try Tangerine Tango on your lips or nails to enhance those summer glows. Looking to brighten up a white room? Throw Tangerine Tango coloured pillows on your couch for a chic, fresh look. Try these tips and make a statement with this trendy colour!

Stay colourful!
