Scandal Leads Dior to fire Galliano

A video of John Galliano emerged Monday, February 28th. The online video shows the designer at La Perle, a café in Paris’s Marais District, reportedly praising Adolf Hitler. John Galliano was allegedly accused of verbally abusing a couple who were sitting on the terrace of the café; he was found to have been drinking alcohol upon the time of arrest. Making anti-Semitic remarks carries a prison sentence of up to six months in France.

This is sure to cause turmoil in fashion’s elite world as the latest Paris ready-to-wear shows begin. Dior has launched layoff proceedings for Galliano, just days after he was suspended as its creative director pending investigation.

John Galliano made a terrible mistake and such offensive behavior could not be ignored. It is all the same true that he has a huge talent and has contributed enormously to the resurrection of the house of Dior. Who can predict what the future will bring?

A decision this week would mean that Galliano will either be reinstated in time to take his famous bow at the end of the Christian Dior catwalk show next Friday, or will be absent from his first Dior show in 15 years.
