Swag Babies.

Our fashion icons use to be over two feet tall, as of late these little inspirations are starting at a younger age. Carlos, Jeremy and Chen have been spotted and created a lot of buzz on the way they dress. Their parents have put together the cutest outfits using todays trends which have inspired "baby swag". Swag determines a person that has style and can carry themselves in a particular way. These babies are setting the standard for babies all over the world and potentially opening the market for new baby products. One of the babies in the picture is even wearing baby frames that reflect the modern day nerdy look. Baby snap backs which have been seen on celebrities such as chris brown and Wiz khalifa have also become more and more popular a long with a variety of baby accessories.
It seems like we are going to have to be looking to our youngest generation for fashion tips now a days!

Elizabeth Taylor Auction

By: Erika Shantz

The iconic Elizabeth Taylor had an auction of all of her jewels on Tuesday night. The sale exceeded all expectations and it wasn’t even complete when it set the world record of $118 million in one night. A massive pearl sold for $11.84 million. It was suspended for a Cartier necklace and was projected to sell for $2-3 million, which is called “La Peregrina,” but it reached the highest price that any pearl has sold at auction. This wasn’t the only shock of the night; this auction actually broke six world records, which include per carat price for colourless diamond, per carat price for a ruby and the price for an Indian jewel.

It wasn’t only the jewelry that caught the eye of thousands. There were also dresses from Dior, Chanel, Versace, Valentino, Givenchy and Yves Saint Laurent. All of these pieces told a story about Elizabeth Taylor and the changes in fashion from her career. Her dress from her first marriage is estimated to go for $40,000 - $60,000 USD.

As well as the live sales there is an Internet only auction. It consists of approximately 1000 items, which includes accessories and jewelry.

Fabulous For Accessories

Sometimes you look at your jewelry collection and it overwhelms you, it all looks like a pile of tangled up beads. Well ok maybe not all of us but mine sure does and well just recently I found a solution to my problem, a piece of art let me tell yah! It’s a jewelry hanger of course, It is absolutely phenomenal, keeps all my necklaces, bracelets, earring and even headbands in place and to be honest it even allows me to be selective when choosing what I am going to wear in the morning rather then dumping everything out on my bed to choose.

It is time to purchase one of these suckers, they will really help you out, I am not just saying that so you fill your room with one more thing but I am saying it because it is really helpful for the average female who loves dressing it up with accessories.

So get out there and shop for one, what are you waiting for, its totally worth it, I wouldn’t lie to you. Be organized and look fabulous girls.

Spectacles.

It was not too long ago that wearing glasses was the worst thing that could happen to a teen. Braces were up there but at least you could hide braces. Then Dov Charney came along with Amercian Apparel and re-invented the nerd. All of the sudden nerds were cool and popular. Being a jock no longer got you the ladies, instead their attention was being caught by the skinny nerdy boys wearing tight –necks and thick frames. The nerdy trend has continued to grow and even move into the female population. Now a days you don’t know who actually needs lenses and who is just wearing them to express their creative, nerdy side. Glasses have been given a new face, showing off your intelligent more artistic side and allowing you to demonstrate your inner geek!

Silence, S'il Vous Plait

I have long waited for film makers to kick talking for one set and delve into the challenge of a silent film – just for fun. No, it may not drive movie goers who demand a quick and easy storyline, loaded with punch lines and simple explanations – it takes a dollop of patience to sit through an entire silent film. But wouldn’t it be neat with today’s technology to give it a shot? Michel Hazanavicius certainly thinks so with his new film “The Artist” now out in theatres. “The Artist” is a French Romance that portrays the life of George Valentine (a super star of the silent era) as he struggles with his career being eclipsed by the debut of talking films. The movie, black and white, looks rich with beautiful and engrossing cinematics and a dramatic storyline.

My hope is that it inspires the fashion & cosmetics world (because it’s so new!) as well as new films to follow suit. Do I sound too over-stimulated over this movie? Probably. But why not be excited when something unique shines out in a sea of mass-produced and honestly, boring movies? Come on, just give it a shot, and try your patience! See where film stars shone, where their careers and hearts where broken and where new ones dawned.

Go Silence, S’il vous plait.

Pictures with Santa…

Every Christmas mothers get their kids dressed up in their puffiest dresses and mini tuxedo’s to take a snap shot with Santa. They make their way to the closest mall to line up and sit on Santa’s lap, read them their wish list and snap a picture. The picture will eventually go into photo album that includes pictures of other milestones. As the Christmas season started Eaton centers lights and decorations were coming up and Satan set up his station as well. According to a radio station (99.9) Santa has cut his hour down and will now be skyping with kids instead. He will only be at the Eaton Center on specific dates and will have scheduled skype dates with kids. This is how you know technology is shifting how we celebrate tradition. Our younger generation will no longer getting dressed up or wait in line ups. They will just sign up and skype with santa and probably bbm him their wish list. Pictures with Santa has now become skyping with Santa!

My Movie Night with Marilyn

Being an avid Monroe fan, I made sure I was there for opening night when My Week with Marilyn, starring Michelle Williams came to theatres. But I came with the lowest expectations. I had yet to see a biopic of the blonde bombshell that could actually merit her name. Not to mention, any photos of Williams channeling Marilyn were not convincing enough. But to repeat myself once more, I am an adoring fan and I had to go – it was the only thing to do that made sense in that situation.

I’m so glad that I was wrong – it was incredible! It was a film that drew you in with its delightful charm yet left you a touch wistful with its honesty of the star-crossed idol’s life. Williams as Marilyn was sensational – her expressions, her flirtations and her insecurities were far more than believable, it seemed real. The film did not attempt to sugar coat the fact that Marilyn Monroe was truly a lost and sad little girl, which caused you to pity her as well as the people around her as she managed to drain them completely.

Nothing about it seemed artificial – from the script to the fashion and the makeup, which was so natural and so flattering to the beautiful Williams. And in its honesty, it touched me with sadness and happiness all at once. My Week with Marilyn is my favorite movie of the year and I recommend it to anyone whether you’re a Monroe fan or not.
