Seinfeld Fashion: Then and Now

As it's been said before, I'm pretty obsessed with the '90s. Of all the TV shows that came out of the era, Seinfeld is one of the most witty, "boring" (it's technically a show about nothing),  and real shows produced.
After watching re-run after re-run I have succumbed to purchasing all of the seasons.

While watching season 5 this past week, I have really noticed some of the styles of clothing have come back around the vicious cycle of fashion. Let's go through a little flashback, have some laughs and discover why I think Seinfeld is still (relatively) fashionable.

Season 5 - "The Stall" (1994)

Watch this hilarious scene!

On the right we have Elaine. On the left, Jerry's girlfriend Jane. Who do you think was being unreasonable? .....Who cares! LOOOK at those cute shoes! I've been seeing these styles EVERYWHERE and here are some of the most popular and on-trend brands I've found:

Jane
1. Messeca Arthur; $179
4. Miista Esi; $159
Elaine
6. Messeca Max; $295
8. 80%20% Quimby; $149

Have fun shopping! I know #2, 6, and 9 will find their way into my shoe closet soon.

Until next time,

5 Guys You Don't Need to Date

We’ve all met them, been dazzled by them, or completely repulsed by them. Regardless of what your type is these guys come in all forms. Unfortunately we don’t know how to avoid or resist them. Dating is getting even more difficult as the weeks go on. Not only are there commitment phobes, but the whole game is changing as fast as what’s trending on Twitter. Here are a few red flags to warn you about the types of guys they are and how they’re most likely not going to change if anything were to happen. Sorry ladies.

1.       He always lets you pay for the bill (split or whole)

Okay so I know we live in a world where women are just as independent as men and are well established working career women but that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t be wined and dined. As I say wined and dined I don’t meant this should be throughout the whole dating experience at expensive restaurants, but if a women decides to pay at the beginning of the relationship you’ll be setting the tone and more often than not you will be used and taken advantage of.

2.       He’s in his late twenties and still lives at home

If he’s still living at home and he’s over 25 maybe 26 then he’s never going to grow up. I understand if he’s in a post-grad or doctorate program and he needs to save money, but if he’s working and just sponging off his parents for laundry and home cooked meals every night it’s time to say buh-bye. You need a man ladies not a boy.

3.       He wants you to pick up after him

As stated in number 2, if he wants to be taken care of (and that’s fine to take care of your man within reason) you are not his maid or his mommy. You are his partner. You don’t need to be picking up after him, cleaning up his messes, and scolding him during an argument. This will only get worse in the future and the romantic relationship dynamic will be lost.

4.       He doesn’t like the phone

I’m sorry, but during the courting stages of the relationship you better have your phone with you dude. It’s not even about being clingy or not responding to a text, it’s just common courtesy and respect. If he doesn’t like to call or respond to text messages then this will only get worse if you guys start dating exclusively. If he’s gone out for the night and doesn’t bother checking in, then you shouldn’t be worrying when your partner doesn’t care enough to let you know everything is cool and he's alright.

5.       He doesn’t know what he’s looking for

He tells you he’s infatuated with you and loves being with you every minute and then when you part ways you don’t hear from him for two weeks. Then when you’re together again, everything is fine and it continues like that for five days and he tells you you’re amazing. More often than not if he’s not fully committing to you he doesn’t want to be with you no matter what he says. If a guy wants to be with you he’ll be with you.

So there you have it. A little summary of the guys you should stay away from, break away from or don't even go near them.

“Target Canada to Sell Roots”

Target, one of the US largest retail chains, is set to conquer the Canadian market this spring. Target is a household name in the US for its partnerships. The retailer recently hosted an event for a selected list of VIPs to unveil its offerings in Canada.John Marioka, the senior vice president of Target, announced the limited time partnership between Target and the famed lifestyle brand Roots.

Roots are an iconic Canadian brand with a loyal customer base. It prides itself on its made in Canada commitment and Target is expected to hit the right note with potential customers by partnering with Roots for the launch. The Roots line will be inspired by vintage athletics and will feature national imagery and symbols synonymous with the brand, including the beaver, the Maple Leaf and the Roots logo in cursive and block lettering emblazoned on the garments

The partnership is a win-win situation for both Roots and Target. Forging a partnership with Roots gives Target the luster and tacit endorsement from one of the country’s best-known independent apparel brands. On the other hand, Roots could piggy back on Target’s access to a larger audience and introduce its brand to an entirely new set of customers.
