Top Nail Polish Trends of 2013

If you're like me and insist on keeping your manicure current and trendy, this is one list you're going to want to bookmark for 2013. I've put together the top most wanted nail trends happening right now for all my fashionistas

#1.   Holographic nails- Holographic nail polish made an appearance last year, but this year holographic nails are bigger than ever. From Beyonce to Rihanna, everyone has been spotted with 3D holographic nail trend. I recently tried the GOSH brand nail polish in "holographic hero" and it was perfect! Almost every brand has their take on this 3D polish, so browse around and find your favourite!

#2. Geometric Shapes- I’ve been seeing this trend for a while now, and it doesn’t seem to be going anywhere. This trend also allows full creative input on your part. You could do triangles, hearts, squares, stripes or a mixture of these for a tribal look.. it’s entirely up to you. The trick that I’ve read over and over is to use scotch tape to get a perfect, crisp edge when creating your shape.
Check out these geometric nails in some fresh Spring'13 shades!

#3. Studs and Rhinestones- This trend adds some major drama and va-va-voom to your nails that screams fashionista! My tip would be to keep the studs or rhinestones to one-or-two nails instead of all ten; so then your nails don’t look too overdone.

#4. Prints- There are endless options for this trend.
Animal print, newsprint, floral.. are just a few that
come to mind! You have the option of buying nail appliqués to adhere to your nail (think nail stickers by Sally Hansen), or work free hand if you’re the artsy type. You also need to decide if you have a print on all your nails, or just one. Only having a print on your ring finger seems to be the all-the-rage right now!

#5. Caviar- this trend has been around for a while, but because of its popularity I feel like its here to stay for 2013. This trend looks like little beads all over your nail, and comes in multiple colours and shimmers. You can find caviar nail polish kits at most beauty supply stores like Sephora.

Care for some Caviar?

I first heard about Caviar Manicures through makeup guru Michelle Phan when she had instagrammed a photo of her wearing it on her nails. This look first came when models in Cushie et Och’s Fall 2011 fashion show were seen sporting this look on their nails. Caviar Manicure’s is an Avant-garde look that adds a 3-D affect to your nails. Ciate a UK nail polish brand just created a kit that has been released online and in Sephora stores in 3 different bead colors; rainbow, mother of pearl, and black pearls. However with this upcoming trend the downfall is that the kit costs $25 and only stays on your nails for 48 hours. The question is will this nail trend last as long as the caviar on your nails or will people look past the down fall and caviar their nails.

The Obama Campaign's Nail Polish

The Obama campaign trail is well on its way these days and willing to go to any lengths to capture voter interest. Today, they are even trying to inspire the female youth vote in a way that has never been done before by a political party: Nail Polish.

Political enthusiasts and trend setters everywhere will now be able to show their support for the Obama administration, and be as creative as possible while doing it.

Jumping on the nail art craze, the campaign teamed up with Richard Blanch of Le Métier De Beauté cosmetics company. The set includes three mini bottles – in patriotic red, white and blue – come in a neat Obama branded Dopp kit, selling for $40 on the Obama Campaign’s online store. The polish debuted as part of Anna Wintour’s “Runway to Win” campaign event in New York City in February.

According to Politico, the campaign spent $10 000 producing the nail polishes which will be a way of “keeping low dollar supporters engaged with the campaign and driving up overall contribution numbers. It’s part of how the Obama campaign can truthfully say that 97.7 percent of February’s contributions were small donors, even as big donors maxing out at $35,800 are the real fundraising goldmine for the campaign.

Looks like the usual blahs of posters and buttons are ghosts of campaigns past!

Airbrush Manicures

When a woman enters in a party with a high end designer ball gown with beautiful face make up but untidy hands, what impression will you get from here?

Nowadays, Nail art and particularly airbrush nails are very popular. Lot of women spent thousands and thousands of dollars to enhance their beauty, just wants to be more eyes catching, attractive and glamorous. Airbrush nails are one of the latest trends to make you high up among other women.

Airbrushnails are a nail art technique that created different patterns on your nails with water base and oil base colors. You can use any color combination and infinite designs in this art. In this procedure, first of all your hands are cleaned perfectly. You can use nail remover to clean your hands. Then your nail artist will apply a base coat on your nails, you can keep it white or any choose any other color. In the second step, an airbrush gun is used to spray different colors on your nails. There are different stencils, which can be used to create different designs. At the end, a final nail paint coat is applied on your nails.
I hope now you will not ignore your hands and try out something more trendy and fashionable on your nails. Get some ideas from http://coolnailsart.com/beautiful-air-brush-nail-design/

Nail Art Attacks

Painting your nails has now turned into a full blown art project. Sometimes it can take up half your day depending on your dedication. Doing you nails is no longer about getting the perfect french tips, but more about getting the most creative pattern on that tiny edge of our finger.(Unless you are lucky enough to have larger nail beds)
Designs are a personal preference from stripes, to animal prints depending on how daring you are. Youtube (the new education system) has tutorials for you to learn from. You can be as creative or simple as you like they are your nails after all and it's not a competition...or is it.

Here is a link to one of the many nail art designs you can try. Courtesy of Ebonyeleia on youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j_tz726Gp40&feature=youtube_gdata_player

If you fail at "art stuff" (like myself) no worries. Sally Hasen, Sephora among others have your back. You can buy designs that easily attach to you nail (Nail stickers). And voila you too can look hip without making it look like a toddler did your nails.

And to all those nail bitters with naked nails thinking people don't see your nails, you're wrong. We see but I can't really complain because my nails also find themselves undressed often. But I am sure after seeing this you want to go on and try out a design, but first go on a nail polish shopping spree, the Kardashians just came out with their line with Nicole by O.P.I

Natalia

Water Marble

I absolutely love getting my nails done. So I'm always searching for different nail art designs that are easy to do.
I'm always on YouTube looking at nail art tutorials. A big thing that is happening - or trending, if you will - is water marble nail art. The designs and styles are limitless with water marble. You are only limited by your own imagination. The amount of colour or colours, you add are up to you and your mood at the moment.
It is a fairly easy thing to do and can be done with whatever nail poilsh you own. Brand is not an issue. Things need are a cup, room temperature filtered water, toothpick or orange stick, tape and your choice(s) of nail polish. Tape the area around your nails. Like in the picture (upper right), take yout choice of nail polish and drop some into the water. Alternate however many colours you would like. Create whatever design you like in the nail polish. Dip your finger into the design. Clear any excess nail polish. Then repeat the process over again until all nails are done.
Some examples of how your nails could turn out. For more examples YouTube is the placeto go.
As for me, once my nails grow to the desired length, I'm going to hop right on it.
