Gossip Girl Ends, The Fashion Lives On

Hey Upper East Siders,

On Monday December 17th 2012, the hit series Gossip Girl came to an end.

The series finale answered questions we've had for 6 years in 2 hours. Especially the big one: WHO is Gossip Girl?!

But I’m not here to spoil it for you. I’ll leave it up to you to watch. All I’m going to say is that it’s not Dorota.
I’m here to reminisce on my favorite dresses that were worn by Leighton Meester as Blair Waldorf and Blake Lively as Serena Van Der Woodsen.

First on my mind is the Hamptons White Party. Serena Van Der Woodsen always made a statement with her outfits, and the white dress she wore by Oscar de la Renta was definitely that.

Prom at Constance Billard wouldn’t be the same without crowning Blair queen. She tastefully claims her title in a breathtaking black Marchesa ball gown complete with gold brocade peacock.

Just Cavalli’s long black dress is the perfect combination of sexy and class, appearing on Serena in season 2.

Season 5 we see Blair almost marry Prince Louis in an extraordinary
Vera Wang wedding dress.

At her mother’s wedding, Serena looks picturesque in a gorgeous yellow chiffon gown by Ralph Lauren, and the black accents add extra elegance.

Next up is one of the most memorable moments in Gossip Girl history, in my opinion. Blair Waldorf meeting Chuck Bass on a bridge in Paris wearing a red Balenciaga dress. Stunning.

It wasn't until this week’s finale that we find out Blair and Chuck Bass finally tie the knot, and in a flash forward of 5 years down the road, we witness Serena walking down the aisle towards her high school sweetheart Dan Humphrey.

Let’s compare their wedding gowns, shall we?

Blair’s powder blue, hand-beaded Elie Saab dress was the definition of couture. However, after 6 seasons of refined glamour, I expected a bit more from Queen B.

Serena, on the other hand, left us fixated on her as she entered the room in a striking strapless white and gold dress by Georges Chakra.

Let me know which one you preferred!

xoxo,
Angela

Jennifer Lawerence Emerging Style Star

The Hunger Games is finally being released, and Jennifer Lawerence finally gets her moment to shine. Although she was in the summer smash X Men: First Class, as well other movies and appearances in shows. did anyone really know who she was before. Looking at her now her beauty stands out, and her style isn't too bad either. At the premier of Hunger Games she was a stunner in her gold gown by Prabal Gurung. (right) an d again she ravished in another gold dress this one by Ralph Lauren (Left)

I know I am not the only one excited to see what she wears to premiers around the world. I also love that I have someone new to look at. The whole cast is just stunning, but I really enjoy seeing all of Jennifer's outfits.

She definitely knows what works with her. The Hunger Games may be her start but it's not her end, with sequels to the Hunger Games, and three other movies in production. Seeing her on the red carpet will be a pleasure. and seeing her on the cover several magazines (Parade, Glamour ect.)means we will definitely being seeing her a lot more.

ps. She definitely makes a great Katniss Everdeen.

Loooove

Greg Lauren New High-End Clothing Line

by: Joseph Fabian

The nephew of Ralph Lauren and an actor of The Young and the Restless, Greg Lauren has just launched his first collection “Ironic Military” for men and women. The 41-year-old artist turned designer hardly set out to capitalize on the family name. The clothing collection explores themes of identity and iconography. His design is an extension and a modern evolution of Lauren’s paintings and paper sculptures. Lauren’s 2010 exhibition that he presented in New York City and Los Angeles titled “Alteration,” he learned to sew cutting life-size tuxedos and three-piece suits out of paper which the construction of iconic menswear garment explored heroic imagery.

Greg Lauren is recorded as saying in a recent interview, "I grew up learning about the most beautiful, classic pieces of clothing, and appreciating the iconic people that wore them... Clothing is the way people express themselves."

From the pieces out of vintage duffel bags and army tent from World War II, Greg Lauren created some of the pieces from his collection such as a canvas tuxedo jacket with a crushed silk lapel and the testosterone-heavy military jacket tie with ribbons at the wrist. Other clothing styles include blazers, tuxedo jackets and field jackets, in both men’s and women’s silhouettes. His clothing may appear faded and distressed, but rest assured this worn/washed-out look is deliberate and sophisticated.

As the collection relies on vintage styles and fabrics, everything is hand-sewn by Lauren and a group of artisan sewers he is assembled in his Los Angeles studio-turned-production facility.

“Every single piece goes through my hands at some point. I want the fingerprint of a human being on the clothing. It’s exhausting, but we’re having a blast doing it,” said Lauren. Which can be shown with the high-end prices range from $1,875 for a jacket made from old Army tents to $3,125 for a washed and destroyed cashmere tuxedo jacket with silk lapels.

Being a nephew of Ralph Lauren, he has inherited his uncle’s talent with the fashion industry. However, Greg Lauren has a distinct design and ideas of his artwork that differentiate from his uncle.
