BAFTAS Best Dressed

This is the busiest time for awards season and this past Sunday was no exception. The BAFTA’s (British Academy of Film and Television Arts) hosted some of the most popular and best dressed actresses right now including Jennifer Lawrence, Jessica Chastain, Anne Hathaway and Marion Cotillard.

 

 

Jennifer Lawrence looked gorgeous in a Dior Haute Couture gown which she kept simple with silver earrings and a ring from Chopard. This eye catching dress was paired with Jimmy Choo shoes and a Judith Leiber bag. The pale pink gown definitely screamed success and gave her a flawless figure which demonstrated as my favorite look of the night.

 

 

There is nothing depressing about this Les Miserables star Anne Hathaway, who carried through the red carpet wearing a lovely, sleek, sophisticated Burberry gown. She definitely pulled this off with her pixie cut giving her a fun, cute, quirkiness about her.

 

This Zero Dark Thirty star Jessica Chastain was looking fresh and vibrant in a beautiful blue ensemble.  This asymmetrical gown gave her a form fitting figure which showcased her best features. She was wearing Roland Mouret, complemented with sapphire and diamond Harry Winston jewels. And the most popular shoe of the night continued to be Jimmy Choo. She finished off her look with glamorous waves and bright red lips.

 

My favorite French actress Marion Cotillard was seen in a bright yellow Dior Haute Couture gown. This was paired with Jimmy Choo shoes with a ring and striking necklace from another popular choice of Chopard. She gave off a modern glamorous look to definitely leave an impression.

Jiimmy Choo Sold To Labelux For An Estimated $800 Million

“Every woman should have a great open-toed platform shoe in a pale gold fabric, a chic wedge for any on-grass event, and a perfect flat shoe in a neutral colour for every day." – Tamara Mellon

On Sunday, May 22^nd, Labelux, a Swiss-based privately held luxury group said that it had agreed to acquire the upscale shoe-maker and accessories company, Jimmy Choo from London-based equity firm, TowerBrook Capital.

Labelux, who also owns Bally, Derek Lam fashion house, and jeweler Solange Azagury-Partridge reportedly valued the company around ₤500 million – or $800 million.

“Jimmy Choo has enormous growth potential and the ability to deliver material growth synergies across our group,” Labelux Chief Executive Officer Reinhard Mieck said in the statement.

Jimmy Choo has 120 stores around the world, a number that has doubled since the TowerBrook acquisition back in 2001.

Jimmy Choo’s top management, including its founder and chief creative officer, Tamara Mellon, as well as its chief executive, Joshua Schulman, plan to remain with the company once the sale process is completed.

Shoedreams

With my favourite season fast approaching I can't help but start to daydream of sangria with girlfreinds on a patio, shopping on sunny afternoons and hitting the town on hot summer nights. When I find myself longing for warmer weather my mind automatically shifts to the fabulous summer shoes I hope to be wearing for the season (doesn't everyone shoedream? No? Just me then, sigh). Here's a few fabulous pieces of footwear that I can't get out of my "shoedreams".

Now I must admit I have always loved a wedge. What's not to love, all the benefits of a heel with the comfort of a flat, and every summer I find myself purchasing at least two new pairs to add to my collection (yes I know, excessive). This season I am coveting the YSL puzzle wedge (pictured right). It's architectural and the nude colour is another of my current shoe obsessions. DVF also came out with a wedge that got my attention, the Opal wedge (pictured left). They have a simple silhouette and I keep envisioning these wonderful shoes with a breezy maxi dress and bangles. Ahhh summer.

kle strap. Thin, thick, embellished, I can't seem to kick this trend

out of my shoedreams. One of my favourite ankle strap shoes comes from my favourite shoe artist - Brian Atwood. His "Collins" shoe (pictured right) in antique rose suede with the buckle detail on the ankle strap is the perfect mix of masculine and feminine, and a shoe I am definitely hoping to add to my collection (or at least a cheaper imitation, shhhh don't tell). The shoe of the season for me though has to be the Jimmy Choo Caitlin (pictured left). I especially love the coral colour and the double ankle strap is the perfect combination of trendy and classic. This shoe can take you from patio sangrias (clearly a summertime favourite) to a night on the town, and will add a touch of glamour to any outfit.
