Buyer’s Guide: T-Shirts for Men in Spring/Summer 2013

The warm weather is just around the corner, here’s a selection of some of my favorite tees for this spring. An upcoming trend is bold prints and it varies from floral to camo. These tees are loud and are fun pieces to have in any men's wardrobe. All selections are available at various online websites.

This design by Ricardo Tisci, Givenchy Designer, features an all over dark green paisley pattern with a scatter of images of planes. Made with 100% Cotton with a central back seam. Available at Mr Porter.

 

Made from poplin, this oversize loose fit tee features baroque-style floral and check print with accent panels of navy blue. Also available in antique white. Get it at Hypebeast and SSENSE.  

 

Featuring a graphic fence print, this Raf Simons tee will bring a bold look to any casual outfit with its contrasting and boxy design. Available at Mr Porter. 

 

London-based designer Katie Eary uses a digital fish print in the front and contrasts with a white back. its 100% Cotton and Made in Italy. Make a statement and get yours at here.
 

This black cotton tee by Balenciaga features a floral pattern printed on the side panel and a textured grey fabric use for the back. It's a simple design but will brings a sophisticated feel to any outfit. This is my favorite out of my selections and its available at Mr Porter.

Here's a camouflage tee from Italian based designer Valentino features a touch of neon trim at the waist and a contrasting green back. It can be purchase it via The Corner.

Clear Plastic Trend

Maison Martin Margiela made the term Trompe-l’œil popular in the fashion industry. According to the brand's glossary, which reflects its aesthetic, it means “a game, material or shape that tricks the eye.”

Today many designers, inspired by fashion from '60s, use clear PVC fabrics in their collections, offering us the magic of tricking the eye. The spring 2013 fashion shows prove that designers always find a way of keeping things upbeat, especially now, when they are giving us a great opportunity to uplift the spirit and spice up the wardrobe with transparant plastic vision.

Plastic garments might seem unconventional, but designers manage to make them absolutely marvellous with a touch of femininity, turning plastic into fancy necessity.

It might seem difficult to add those bold garments to everyday wardrobe. But clear plastic can be thrown into any striking combination. Promoting bold, futuristic approach transparent trend becomes a real treat for the eyes.

Looking absolutely striking on the catwalk, plastic designs are totally wearable in real life. You can simply wipe candy-like garments  with a slightly wet soft cloth and give your washer a break.

There is some more transparency to add to your wardrobe: perspex and plexiglass accessories. 

Alexander McQueen’s space-age visors are made from high-shine, reflective plexiglass (with essential UV protection) and are completely clear to see-through.

Cinderella's dream came true, best designers in the world took a creative approach making shoes in clear PVC.

Louboutin shows a charming balance between classic and cool, making legendary red soled shoes even more desirable by adding transparent magic to them.

Their is also a variety of choices of plastic sneakers, for those who prefer comfort.

Jeremy Scott offered adidas lovers a plenty of creative designs, but how could he make sneakers look more angelic then this pair?

The Converse All Star is certainly one of the most classic sneakers of all time, back in 2012 they decided  switched things up with a fully clear Lo & Hi Chuck Taylor.

Elizabeth Taylor Auction

The iconic Elizabeth Taylor had an auction of all of her jewels on Tuesday night. The sale exceeded all expectations and it wasn’t even complete when it set the world record of $118 million in one night. A massive pearl sold for $11.84 million. It was suspended for a Cartier necklace and was projected to sell for $2-3 million, which is called “La Peregrina,” but it reached the highest price that any pearl has sold at auction. This wasn’t the only shock of the night; this auction actually broke six world records, which include per carat price for colourless diamond, per carat price for a ruby and the price for an Indian jewel.

It wasn’t only the jewelry that caught the eye of thousands. There were also dresses from Dior, Chanel, Versace, Valentino, Givenchy and Yves Saint Laurent. All of these pieces told a story about Elizabeth Taylor and the changes in fashion from her career. Her dress from her first marriage is estimated to go for $40,000 - $60,000 USD.

As well as the live sales there is an Internet only auction. It consists of approximately 1000 items, which includes accessories and jewelry.

Riccardo Tisci for Dior?

The rumour mill is in overdrive and the twittersphere is aflutter with word that Givenchy creative director Riccardo Tisci is heading to the House of Dior.

Harper’s Bazaar and Style.com editor-at-large Derek Blasberg tweeted this late Tuesday night: “I was just told backstage at the @KatyPerry concert (of all places!) that Riccardo Tisci is CONFIRMED at Dior. I leave #PFW for a second...”

Tisci and Dior have yet to come out with an official comment. The French fashion house has been looking for a new creative director since it gave John Galliano the boot last week after scandal erupted involving anti-semitic slurs and an internet video.

The latest news come midway through Paris Fashion Week. It has editors, bloggers, and fashion lovers weighing, with mixed reviews, all over the internet. I’ve been a huge fan of Tisci’s since the Italian designer took over at Givenchy in 2005, except for this season. His stunning Japanese robot-inspired couture collection couldn’t make up for the eyesores seen at Givency’s men’s and women’s ready-to-wear collections. Rottweiler and panther prints? Seriously!?

If the rumour is true, I’m excited to see what comes out of the House of Dior... as long as Tisci keeps the animals out of it.

Grammy 2011 Trends: Glitter Ruffles & Jungle Safari

So there’s been a lot of talk about the Grammys the past couple of days, best performances, opinions on awards, best and worst dressed, I can go on... but what caught my eye were the trending themes on the red carpet.

Sequins, glitter, glam & shine.

From J Lo’s rockin’ shard and studded silver Emilio Pucci, Heidi Klum perfect as a princess in Julien MacDonald, to Katy Perry’s jewel pierced Armani bra, the red carpet didn’t miss a shine. Oh, and how could I forget to mention Hayley William’s in her Jeremy Scott black sequin and pink feather puff.

Ruffles for a lifetime.

Fashion statement or fashion mistake? Ruffles are hard to pull off, yet a variety of celebs still tried...Rihanna in a Gaultier dress, white ruffles head to toe. My opinion, she should have worn her performance outfit from Love the way you lie. Nicole Kidman turned Jean Paul Gaultier’s ruffles around in her floral strapless dress.

Leopard and Eggs.

Animal print is a classic, especially leopard print. But too much, could be bad, and Nicki Minaj turned this classic bad. Head to toe in Givenchy leopard print failed to impress for 2011. And Gaga’s egg...avant-garde gone wrong. As for Miley Cyrus, at least one kept up the status of animal print. Her Cavalli neutral toned sparkling dress caught at least my eyes!
